All praise to the Father, all praise to the Son, all praise to the Spirit, the Three-in-One! God's saving grace manifested itself in my life in February. On the 10th I was driving and slammed into the rear of a parked, unlit firetruck sitting in my lane. It was during a white-out blizzard in Michigan. The rented Tahoe spun a 180 and was hit head-on by a semi. Another car piled on while I was unconcious. When the mayhem ceased a total of 10 crumpled vehicles and a couple dozen people came to rest in the minus 45 degree cold with 50 mph winds buffeting us. God's peace was tangible, His protection a miracle, and His provisions wonderful. A firefighter was about to exit the truck when he "heard a voice saying, 'Sit down!'" which he did. He would have been directly in the path of our Tahoe, the semi and other cars. None of the other vehicles occupants were hurt. My wife, 2 adult sons, their wives, and my 13 month old grandson were bruised and battered. One daughter-in-law suffered a broken nose and sinuses. I was crushed by the dash and firewall. My left hip and right shoulder were dislocated and my right forearm crushed. It took about 1-1/2 hours to extricate me. So far I've had one surgery and anticipate another. I've racked up dozens of hours of physical therapy with more to come. A couple of lessons I've learned are this: It pays to pray. God indeed answers prayer. You never know when He'll answer you in dramatic fashion. I thank all of you for praying for safety for all of us in the PrayerLink network. Second, if you're gonna have a crash, make sure it's a firetruck full of trained rescue personnel. (Just kidding). Be assured, as we all pray for one another at the same moments, God is listening...and answering. Thank you again for Answering the call and praying as one. |
