Unity in the Body PDF Print E-mail

It is a thrill to watch and listen to the unity gaining with many ministries locally and beyond. So often we are competetive with other ministries. There is competition for finances, people, followers, name lists, readers, churches under "our" authority, and influence. Such competition is not so different than what the Apostle Paul experienced with the Corinthian church. The believers had become divided by choosing one leader over another, claiming, "I am of Paul" or I am of "Apollos". Paul wrote the 1st letter to the Corinthian church to build bridges between the fragmented groups. God's perspective on the issue is that He selects different ministers to accomplish different ministries and that all are equally important to the growth of each believer and group of believers. Paul's heart for unity within each church gathering as well as within all the churches is seen best in Romans 15:5-7 where he wrote, that we would be "joining together with united hearts and one voice to praise and glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Our "Original PrayerLink" is intended to be such a "bridge" between ministries. It is not our goal to gather unto ourselves. The goals of PrayerLink LLC are simply and clearly thus:

1. Provide tools to remind Christians to "turn to the Lord" (Joel 2:12); and

2. Unite members of the Body of Christ in synchronized prayer in a "virtual" "solemn assembly" (Joel 2:15).

Since our lives are busy and demanding we often forget God. Our "Original PrayerLink" reminds us to pray and praise God at the factory set times. I see it as a friendly tap on the shoulder to interrupt our day with a reminder of God's presence, power, and purposes.

Additionally, in light of the natural bent we have in "flocking" together with birds of our feather, thus, becoming isolated from others and other groups withing God's vast body, we offer the Original PrayerLink and PrayerLink Mobile. Bear in mind, if your Original PrayerLink reminds you to pray at, say 2:12 p.m., others are turning to the Lord at the exact same moment. If we can't be unified any other way, let us be unified in turning our faces toward our common Savior and Lord. We believe this is the sort of unity Jesus prayed for in John 17:21, "that they may all be one".

If you have a ministry or are in a ministry that is afflicted with "Corinthianitis", our tools could help bridges those divides. Indeed, I once characterized our Original PrayerLink as the "stone that brings down the Goliath of division".

We pray as did Paul and Jesus, that you and your gathering of fellow believers would indeed join together in prayer and praise at the same moments.
